Jerry Morris was born in Aruba and at the age of 5 months he came to Holland with his older brother Renaldo. Jerry also has a younger brother and sister who both live in Holland, Davey and Nicolette.
Jerry Morris started muay thai kickboxing under the supervision of Lucien Carbien and his senior pupils Paul Pengel en Cor Marengo, 1983-1992
at the age of 13 together with is brother Renaldo After winning his first 3 amateur fights (C. class) with great ease, he jump tot the semi amateur level. (B. class) In this class/level he fought 6 fights of which he only lost 1 fight very closely on points. In 1991 he made the big jump to the professional level (A class) with only 9 fights to his credit. His opponent was the current World champion kickboxing. To everybody’s surprise Jerry knocked him out in the second round. His opponent was able to get up for the 10. count but the referee thought it unsafe for him to continue the fight. This was the begin of his impressive muay thai career.
Jerry trained a while at the Mejiro Gym.(1993) Jerry learned a lot at this gym through his countless sparring sesions with top fighters like Rob Kaman, Andre Manaart, Bob Schrijber, Leo Snoo and Tommy van de Berg.
Jerry also trained for two years at Gym International where he won his first European and World title muaythai.
(1993-1995)
After working with different trainers he started combining different training methods from the different trainers. Jerry then was convinced that no trainer could train him as well as he did himself. So this is the reason he started training himself successfully from 1995 to 2002. In this period he won 5 Shidokan World titles and 3 muay thai World titles.
Jerry lived in Holland till 1998. At the end of 1998 he left to St. Maarten the Dutch Antilles where he opened a sports centre under the name Jerres Sports & Entertainment Center [see photo gallery] Not long after opening his first gym he opened a new sport centre under the name Jerry’s All Sport City Gym.[see photo gallery] In St. Maarten he has successfully promoted several boxing and kickboxing events .
Present: At the end of 2002, after having lived in St. Maarten for 4 years Jerry joined forces with his teacher Lucien Carbin again. The only one that he thought could still uplift his level. While he is in Holland studying his student Steve Phillips is teaching the classes in St. Maarten. In Jerry’s absence this student won the World heavyweight championship of Shidokan in 2004. Jerry has continuously been a champion since 1992 -- 2002 (10 years) in one or another fighting style. Since being back in Holland he has been preparing for life after his fighting career. Since 2002-2005 he has graduated for the courses, Sports masseus, Weight Consultant and Medical fitness instructor . In 2008 Jerry finished his study at the sports academy and graduated as Sports and Movement Manager. Right after graduating from the sports academy Jerry started his internet sports schop "The Ringfighter Shop". Six months later Jerry opened his own muay thai kickboxing centre in Amsterdam named "Ringfighter Gym" Next to that he works as a fitness instructor and teaches muay thai and Krav Maga at the University of Amsterdam. While most of his attention went to his studies he still managed to become World champion muay thai in 2006 for the fourth time.
